Radhika's daughter prepares for big screen

Actress-producer Radhika has turned a mentor for her seven-year-old daughter Shamika, who is keen on making a debut in a children's film. The news comes close on the heels of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy going on record that his son Nikhil Gowda will be introduced in a film shortly.

However, sources say, there is no connectionwhat-so-ever to the acting debuts of either Nikhil or Shamika. Nikhil will star in a remake of theTelugu film Leader while actress Radhika is still on the lookout for a story apt for Shamika's age.

When Radhika was contacted by Bangalore Mirror, she confirmed therumours which had been riff in the tinsel town. "Yes, it is true. She will soon make her debut. In fact, I wanted to introduce her in one of the films I produced or acted in. But the plan did not work out. It is better for Shamika to debut in a children's film," Radhika said.

The actress had started a production house in the name of Shamika a few years ago. The children's film will be made under the same banner.Radhika says she noticed her daughter's keen interest in dancing, part from which Shamika, who is pursuing her primary studies, is also being trained in horse riding and karate. Despite a busy schedule for the little one, the actress insisted her daughter will not be taken out of formal education.


"She will continue to go to school. She is interested in acting as she is surrounded by films because of me. Even as a child artist, it is better to start with formal training. I will reveal all the details of the children's film very shortly," Radhika said.

For the last few months, there were also rumours that Radhika has bid goodbye to film production. "Those are just rumours," she retorted. "I am not only preparing for Shamika's film but also another film that will be launched on my birthday (November 10).Since I was acting in three films, I did not want to burden myself with production," she said.

Radhika, who made her debut in 2002 with Ninagagi made a comeback to films as producer with Lucky in 2012.She did not act in her first film as producer. In SweetyNanna Jodi, she was both actor and producer. The new film that will be launched on Monday will her 33rd film as actor.
