WORLD’S MOST INFLUENTIAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC FIGUREHEADS HEAD TO ASIA

NOV 14 2014: The world’s most influential electronic music summit will make its way to Asia in Singapore on December 11. IMS – the International Music Summit – which began life in Ibiza, was created in 2007 and will make its Asian debut in Singapore at the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove as IMS Asia-Pacific.

Presented by BBC Radio One’s Pete Tong, IMS is regarded as the premier platform for the thought leaders in electronic music, where announcements for the season ahead are made and deals are confirmed. With talks by some of electronic dance music’s foremost DJs, their managers and owners of the most significant brands in dance music, it is a place for everyone who is anyone in the dance music industry – estimated in this year’s IMS business report to be worth US$6.2 billion (S$7.9 billion) annually – to network and create important business relationships.

IMS’ aim is to educate, inspire and motivate through the thought leadership platform dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, electronic music – the artistry related to DJ-ing and all related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution.

Previous IMS speakers have included industry figureheads like Miles Leonard (Chairman of Parlophone and Warner Bros. UK) and Paul McGuinness (Principle Management), leading digital entrepreneurs and innovators, like Jamal Edwards (SB.TV) and Blaise Bellville (Boiler Room), through to current global artists: from Steve Angello and Annie Mac though to recording legends like George Clinton.

IMS co-founder Ben Turner stated: “This event has been created to unite the Asia-Pacific industry but also to educate and entertain delegates from around the world about this incredible frontier which is finally opening up in a huge way to electronic music culture.”

Pete Tong MBE, described IMS as “an intense networking environment with the glamour and glitz of my favourite party island of Ibiza, but with a Back to Business ethos”.
